One of just six houses in the parish of Gratton, Dale End House is found on a quiet back road between Elton and Youlgreave. It enjoys unspoilt countryside, yet is only approximately six miles from Bakewell and Matlock. Ideally based for Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, fine restaurants and pubs.
Bed & Breakfast accommodation is available at The Lodge, a former milking parlour set within the 5 acre grounds of Dale End House, a Grade II listed Derbyshire long house.
The Lodge has been loving restored to an exceptionally high standard. It has a large open plan lounge with sofa and TV, a dining area, shower room and under floor heating throughout.
The bedroom has an antique double bed with down duvets and feather pillows romantically lit by a crystal chandelier. Painted throughout in historical colours with fine furnishings.
Overlooking a courtyard with ducks and chickens and traditional 2 storey stable block on one side and open fields, sheep and a babbling brook on the other.
We are situated at the end of Gratton Dale, which is very popular with mountain bikers, horse riders and walkers alike, especially in May when the protected orchids flower. As keen mountain bikers and walkers ourselves we are always happy to advise on local trails. Guidebooks and maps are available for you to browse.
There is ample parking and secure indoor space for mountain bikes, with 4 stables you can even bring your horse!
The Lodge is non smoking.
Obedient dogs are welcome for a small additional cost.
Tea and coffee making facilities are available at all times. A full English breakfast [or alternative] will be served in the dining area with locally sourced sausages, bacon and eggs from our very own chickens.
We stumbled across Dale End House whilst mountain biking through Gratton Dale and instantly fell in love with the house and its location. Surrounded by break taking views, and abundant wildlife we are convinced you will find its charm irresistible.
