| Aughavannagh Cottage was recently described by The Irish Times as ‘High in the Wicklow Mountains, just the most picture perfect example of a country home. It retains the 19th century cottage feel, but with all the comforts of a good home away from home.’
The house is a beautifully restored cottage that sleeps up to 8 in the spectacular Wicklow Mountains just over an hour south of Dublin. The cottage is a short drive from both Laragh (Glendalough) and about 15 minutes from the lovely village of Aughrim. Glenmalure (complete with welcoming pub!) is just over the mountain in the next valley. In short you can get away from it all in spectacular scenery in an undiscovered area without having to drive for hours on end. For those visiting from Britain, Aughavannagh is ideally situated just a short distance from ferry and airports. Our pretty cottage is fully equipped with very modern convenience (oil fired central heating, satellite TV, stereo system, microwave, washing machine etc.) whilst still retaining all the character of times past. The cottage is situated in a peaceful wooded glen at the foot of Luqnaquilla, Wicklow's highest mountain, which rises to over 3,000 feet behind the cottage. In the local area there is golf, hill walking, mountain climbing, fishing, sailing and blue flag beaches. Avoca (Ballykissangel) and lots of friendly pubs and restaurants are nearby and Dublin is an easy day trip for visits to breweries, museums and great shopping. |
