| Summer Cottage is a charming luxury holiday cottage with a babbling beck in its well equipped private garden. Converted from a brewery, the cottage has been recently refurbished to an impressive standard.
The spacious and beautifully appointed sitting room has a log fire, and opens onto a large balcony affording beautiful views as you enjoy your morning coffee or perhaps your meal at the end of the day. Three delightful and pretty bedrooms are available: one double, one twin, and one with bunk beds (and a double sofa-bed if needed in the sitting room). All linen and towels provided.
The brand new, well-equipped kitchen diner has a dishwasher, washing machine, and microwave. There is plenty of room for the rustic dining table which seats eight and a charming Welsh dresser.
Summer Cottage is warm and welcoming with everything you need for a real home from home, and is a great base for exploring the Southern Lakes.
Summer Cottage is situated in the delightful, small village of Allithwaite. Two excellent pubs/restaurants are only 200 yards way. Allithwaite itself has a Post Office / general store, children's playground, tennis court, bowling green and football pitch.
Just over a mile away is Cartmel village, featuring an impressive ancient Priory and picturesque town square and race course. It has a number of charming pubs and restaurants. Two miles away is Grange over Sands with its beautiful promenade, ornamental gardens and shops. A superb swimming and leisure complex opened just two years ago.
Three of the top seven Cumbrian visitor attractions are only a ten minute drive away: Holker Hall, with its majestic gardens, is home to summer concerts, and excellent restaurant and food hall, the fascinating Motor Museum, and Donald Campbell's Bluebird collection. The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway takes you to the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruise Ships, which travel the full 10 miles of the lake. 30 Minutes away at Dalton is the famous South Lakes Wild Animal Park.
We are in a great location for walking and cycling; the Cumbrian Cycle route is less than a mile away, Grizedale Forest which has superb way marked mountain bike trails and walking trails is just a few miles north, and about a mile away are the Cumbrian Coastal Path and the Cistercian Way (Both superb walking paths). The local fishing is excellent, with coarse, game and sea angling well catered for; the Tackle shop in nearby Grange-over-Sands is very helpful. There are several golf courses nearby, two in Grange over Sands itself. |
