One mile down a quite country lane from our cottages and hamlet is the acclaimed village of Trefin, situated on cliff-tops between the famous harbours of Porthgain and beautiful Abercastle. Trefin has its own cove on the edge of the village at Aberflin, which is surrounded on three sides by rugged cliffs. Trefin is quite a bustling village with a post office, pub, an artist’s gallery, a more general craft shop, and a couple of tea shops. Just a few hundred yards along the coast south of the famed harbour of Porthgain (a much visited port with famous pub, excellent restaurant artists studios and much more) is a wonderful sandy National trust beach Traethllyfn Beyond that (but still less than 3 miles away is the beach of Aberreidy, porbably the most painted scene in Wales. Also only a short distance north of our local village, Trefin, is the superb small harbour of Abercastle. Then in either direction on the coast are some wonderful beaches, coves and harbours, all connected by the famous Coast Path.
The cottages are also well placed for amenities. Our hamlet has a small store within 50 yards, a pub and a petrol station with a larger grocery store just a couple of hundred yards away. There are a substantial number of pubs within 6 miles, quite a number of restaurants, and needless to say numerous tea shops within a similar distance.
