A ONE BEDROOM HOLIDAY COTTAGE set in the lovely 1 acre grounds of the B listed 19th century Scottish Baronial sandstone Lodge to the former NEWTONAIRDS ESTATE. Refurbished and new to the market this season from 3 JULY 2005. The accomodation is tastefully and comfortably equipped with solid tiled floors and rugs throughout. The heating and water is all elctric and in the rare case of a power cut we do have bottled gas heating as a back-up. The kitchen is well equipped but if there should be anything you need we are on-hand if we can help. All electric, bed linen, towels and T towels inclusive in price. FRIDGE, WASHER/DRYER MICROWAVE USE OF FREEZER TV, VIDEO, MINI HI-FI/RADIO. ELECTRIC HEATING, LINEN, TOWELS AND DOMESTIC BASICS ALL INCLUDED. WELCOME PACK ON ARRIVAL, includes milk, bread. butter, eggs. THE GARDEN is in excess of 1 acre and having lived here less than a year is undergoing development to house our collection of plants brought with us from the South of England. The collection consists of over 150 different hosta cultivar's, numerous ferns, grasses, Bamboos and many perennials. We have also just planted up a circular SCENTED ROSE GARDEN with 16 different climbers and 36 scented English roses, so the smell should be wonderful once they are established. Although you have your own seating area next to the cottage, visitors are most welcome to wander around the garden and enjoy, but please respect the plants and garden! We are awaiting Scottish tourist board grading. Sorry NO SMOKING OR PETS Surroundings: (In Km) Supermarket Dumfries 9km Cairn river only 60 metres from cottage. SITUATION - The cottage is situated within the lovely 1 acre grounds of the owners property, NEWTONAIRDS LODGE.
THE GARDEN - View of the bank area with cottage in the background
THE KITCHEN - The kitchen has seven clean bright cupboards, washer-dryer, fridge with icebox, microwave, electric freestanding cooker with: grill, oven and four hob rings. A Butchers trolley with large removable tray, 4 small drawers and wine rack shelf stands next to the oven for extra worktop space. Use of owners freezer on request.
VIEW ACROSS FIELDS FROM GARDEN - The garden is under development and may be of interest to visitors, you are welcome to look around. We have a collection of some 150 Hosta cultivars and many other perennials and grasses as well as mature trees and shrubs such as Oak, Lime, Ash, Rhodedendrons, Azaleas, Philadelphus and many more. At the end of the garden on the bank the view across the fields is stunning, which is why we placed a stone seat there for a quiet evening drink.
