Nairn (3 miles away) is a popular holiday town with clean sandy beaches, 2 golf courses, swimming pool, tennis courts and bowling green. Inverness (15 miles away) has a bustling shopping area and is the capital of the Highlands.

Newton of Park Farm is close to the historic site of the Battle of Auldearn which took place in 1645 between the Covenanters and the Royalist army of the Marquis of Montrose. Also close by is the Boath Doocot (now cared for by the National Trust) which is an interesting 17th century building with conical roof. It is built on the site of an ancient castle called Old Eren (from which Auldearn gets its name).
