Think of what you would like for a perfect cottage holiday and your list would probably be like this:
'A beautiful cosy cottage in a rural setting, with lots of interesting local attractions and located close to a lively market town.'
Our cottage in the market town of Barnard Castle is at the gateway to Teesdale, and provides the most perfect location for a memorable holiday in the Northern Dales.
Riverdale Cottage
Tucked away down a leafy lane by the upper reaches of the River Tees, Riverdale Cottage is a Grade II listed building which was once a farm stable. This Victorian farm out-building was originally built around 1860. Then, in 1996, the property was lovingly renovated to provide a cosy detached cottage with romantic couples in mind, with those added touches of luxury that make good accommodation great.
The property has been decorated and furnished to a high standard with every amenity you could wish for. The cottage has a sunny southwest facing lounge with French doors leading onto the garden. There’s also a fully fitted kitchen/diner (including dishwasher & auto washer), double bedroom with fitted furniture, new fully tiled bathroom, separate WC and of course full central heating and double glazing. The sofa in the lounge converts to a bed suitable for an extra guest or two small children. The secluded garden is a real suntrap and off street car parking is a real bonus.
Location
The Cottage is in a prime position at Scar Top, close to the Tourist Information centre.
Step out of the front door and you can enjoy miles of fantastic woodland walks, access to the historic Barnard Castle itself and all the amenities of a market town that's full of life - all this without crossing a single road.
There's a good range and variety of restaurants. And best of all - more great pubs than you can shake a stick at!
