The Coach House is situated on the outskirts of the village of Holton St Mary, adjacent to “Constable Country”. The wide skies and riverside meadows, which characterised Constable’s work, are available for you to explore with way marked footpaths along the river Stour through Dedham Vale.
We are also ideally situated for touring the East Anglian villages and traditional market towns, such as Sudbury (birth place of Thomas Gainsborough), Hadleigh, Lavenham and Long Melford. Situated on the Essex/ Suffolk border also makes the historic towns and villages of North Essex easily accessible, Colchester (oldest recorded town in England), Coggeshall, Mannintree. Also the historic ports of Harwich, Felixstowe and Ipswich are nearby.
London is only an hour away by train from Mannintree or Colchester, the port of Harwich only 16 miles away. The area provides golf courses, sports centres, museums, art galleries (Alfred Munnings, Gainsborough), castles, historic houses, gardens (including Beth Chatto’s), sailing, fishing and excellent shopping to suit all tastes.
For evening activities there are theatres, cinemas, or one can enjoy the atmosphere of the numerous pleasant rural country inns, or sample the cuisine of internationally recognised restaurants.The accommodation is separate from the main house, situated on the first floor of the coach house over the garages. There are large gardens part of which is available to guests, garden
furniture is provided.

comfortably furnished, spacious, of high quality throughout and fully centrally heated. The flat, suitable for four people, includes, entrance hall. fully fitted kitchen, lounge/dinner with colour TV and video, main bedroom with a 5 ft double bed and fitted wardrobe, second bedroom (same size) with two 3 ft single beds and fitted
wardrobe, tiled bathroom bath/shower, basin, ESP. and WC.
As the Coach House flat is accessed by an outside staircase it is not suitable for people with disabilities or young children.
