A really super Four Star Cottage with the most wonderful setting, looking through the valley and over the river to Ilam, near Dovedale. It stands on its own and has a backdrop of beautiful bluebell woods.

The Orchards has 3 bedrooms to sleep six people, an oak-floored dining room, lounge with real log fire for cosy evenings, a hand-made pine kitchen with washer, freezer, microwave, etc. and a garage. The price you pay is fully inclusive - i.e. all linen, towels, electricity and fuel for the fire. Please note there are 9 steps up to the front door but inside all rooms are on one level, spacious and uncluttered.

There are lawns all around the bungalow so the children can play, and always some little animals being born on the farm. In Spring, there is a chance of bottle-feeding the baby lambs. Here at Rushley we farm in the traditional way, with the lambs and calves growing up with their mothers, quietly grazing herb-rich pastures in these unspoilt rolling acres of the Manifold Valley.

This area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has something to offer all year round and looks just as wonderful on a frosty morning as it does in the summer sunlight. The world famous theme park, Alton Towers is only a few minutes away. Chatsworth, the Potteries, Uttoxeter Races, and much more all within easy reach. You never have to go far to find something to do - or you could just enjoy the fabulous walking country, of course - right on your doorstep, literally.

A FEW OF OUR CONTENTED COWS - These are just a few of our contented cows, grazing herbs at the top edge of Musden woods which begin behind your cottage. The cows roam freely and have a lovely life, and being suckler cows, they also have their calves growing up alongside them, enjoying a laid-back life on the farm.
A VERY INQUISITIVE PUSS - A lovely picture of one of our cats - very healthy, very happy, very friendly and very big! This particular cat, Calvin, will welcome you on your arrival and if allowed to, will show you round the cottage. Aaah.
ILAM CHURCH - A super picture of Ilam Church with wonderful views behind. The setting of the church has to be seen to be believed.
LONG SHOT OVER THE VALLEY - This photo is taken from the road leading out of Ilam and looks right over the Manifold valley, showing the wonderful setting of The Orchards cottage - deep in the heart of the countryside. The cottage can be found almost at the end of the woods, standing above the farm buildings.
THE ORCHARDS COTTAGE WITH THE FARMHOUSE NEARBY - A nice picture, I think, of the cottage showing its surroundings and the farmhouse where we live, with the clematis in full glory scrambling over the roof.
