Old School Cottage is a brick/flint 18th cent. cottage on the edge of a quiet conservation village adjoining Thetford Forest. The area around Great Hockham is ideal for walkers and cyclists, with many waymarked trails: there are also several local nature reserves. But, as the surrounding area was, in medieval times, one of the most prosperous in England, Great Hockham is an ideal touring centre for visiting historic market towns (Norwich, Cambridge, Bury St.Edmunds, Kings Lynn), fine medieval churches (-over 700 in Norfolk), magnificent cathedrals (Ely and Norwich), imposing stately homes and gardens. The Norfolk Broads, the many bird reserves and the coast are also easily accessible. Old School Cottage is warm and welcoming, with plenty of space, character and home comforts: it has a wealth of beams and other period features. The cottage has its own enclosed pretty garden with patio and garden furniture. The accommodation has oil-fired central heating and comprises: Sitting Room (with wood-burning stove), Dining Room, Kitchen, Bathroom/WC (shower over bath),Double Bedroom ('king-size' bed) - overlooking the pretty garden - and Twin Bedroom. Old School Cottage is equipped with washing machine, tumble drier, electric cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, colour TV, video recorder, CD player, cot etc.. The is a large stock of tourist brochures, books, games and videos. There is no charge for linen (duvets), towels, electricity or central heating.
