Redmain House dates from the 1690’s and is a traditional Cumbrian long house with attached stone barns from which the holiday cottages have been converted to a very high standard, whilst retaining many original features.
Huddlestone Cottage has fully glazed entrance doors leading to an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. A log fire gives a warm focal point. There is a downstairs toilet and shower room. A pine staircase leads upstairs where there is a second full bathroom equipped with a corner bath. Two double bedrooms provide a king size bed and two single beds to sleep four people.
The Hayloft has its own private entrance door with stairway leading to a large open plan living room with kitchen on one side. There is a bedroom with a king size bed and room for a cot, if required. A separate bathroom provides a bath with a power shower over and a toilet. French doors look out directly to the gardens.
All floors are polished pine with rugs and much of the original stone walls have been retained. The upstairs ceilings are lofted with exposed beams. The kitchens are fully equipped with microwave, refrigerator, electric cooker, hob and washing machine (washer/dryer in Cottage). Each cottage has exposed stone walls, lofted ceilings, colour TV, Freeview, DVD, radio and Broadband access. All linen (but not facecloths), oil fired central heating and electricity are all included in the cost. There is also an iron and ironing board and the Cottage has a washer/dryer. A dryer is available in the laundry room for a nominal fee. Some games and books are provided for all guests to enjoy.
Please note that we request dog owners to agree to the following booking conditions as we have had some problems with dog owners and we charge an extra £15 per dog per stay.
1. The dog is not allowed on any furniture, beds or in the bedrooms due to some of our clients having asthma.
2. The dog is not left on its own in the cottage and stays with the owner at all times.
3. The dog is not allowed to foul in the gardens and if it does you will "scoop the poop".
4. The dog must be on a lead at all times as there are two resident cats.
Free, secure storage is available for those with bikes, but you will need to notify us how many.
No smoking is allowed in the premises. There is also a wildlife pond and a formal herb garden and three outdoor barbecues. On your arrival there will be enough tea, coffee, sugar and basics like soap and washing up liquid to get you started.
