| Thruxton Motor Racing Circuit and airfield are nearby as is the Museum of Army Flying and golf courses at Tidworth, Andover and Leckford.
Honey Bottom Lodge is more of a retreat located outside the village of Upper Chute beside Collingbourne Wood on the North Wessex Downs and set in a delightful peaceful valley called Honey Bottom, an area of natural beauty and abundant wildlife. Frequent visitors include fox, badger, deer as well as rabbits, hare and birds.
Collingbourne Wood owned by the Forestry Commission and is open to walkers, riders and cyclist but not to motor vehicles of any kind.
The recently constructed natural swim pond at Honey Bottom has attracted swallows, heron, duck as well as interesting insects such as Emperor dragonflies.
We are within easy reach of Salisbury, Hungerford, Winchester, Andover and Stonehenge. Stockbridge is about thirty minutes away.
The area offers some of the finest walking in the South of England and is close to the RiverTest, Kennet and the Kennet and AvonCanal. Nearby is a Windmill and Steam Pumping Engine both open to the public.
There are Markets in both Salisbury and Hungerford.
The Local Pub in Upper Chute is a short walk and provides an extensive menu in the bar or the restaurant. Other village pubs are nearby, Lower Chute, Tangley, Vernham Dene and Collingbourne Ducis.
