Sleeps 6, between £440 and £950 (discounts for reduced occupancy)
*** SPECIAL LATE OFFERS *** £480.00 for w/c 12th July, £600.00 for w/c 19th July Located in the highly regarded village of Hartington in the heart of the Peak District, this cottage, graded the very maximum 5 Stars by the English Tourism Council, is between 500 and 700 years old. Originally of cruck construction the original beams can still be seen in parts upstairs and downstairs. There are many further beams throughout, although not as old as the cottages itself. The walls, in part well over 2 feet thick, have a wonderful old cottage style feel about them.

In the spacious lounge there is an impressive inglenook fireplace with open grate, bordered by dressed stone lintels. There are also original stone mullion windows, and numerous beams. Without doubt this is a most relaxing room. There is a television with FULL SKY TV, video and CD player, but who needs these - whether in summer or winter, just sit in the leather settees and look at your surroundings.

The cottage is well heated with fully controllable central heating in addition to the open fire place. All heating is included in the rental.

There is a fully loaded superior custom built fully equipped kitchen with gloss work-tops and real granite sink, fridge-freezer, micro-wave, dish-washer and washing machine. This is adjacent to the open-plan beamed dining room. On the first floor are three large bedrooms, all en-suite (two of the en-suites are separate rooms and the third is also spacious). Two bedrooms are doubles, one a twin. No expense has been spared to make this a truly superior cottage befitting its history. Despite being in the heart of the village, once inside there is a real feeling of seclusion and peace.

To the front of the cottage there is a lovely cottage garden with seating from where you can see village life, whilst to the rear is our courtyard (with two further smaller cottages) with a further more private sitting out area.

The cottage must be one of the best in the Peak District, and this is reflected in the comfortable maximum 5 Star grading from the English Tourist Board,(now Visit Britain) a grading which only a minute proportion of cottages achieve.

There is private parking for two cars. Also a telephone for out-going and incoming calls. The cottage has seven highly organised information packs prepared from a very personalised point of view, which really enable visitors to get the best out of their stay in the Peak. The village itself is highly regarded, being the start of many walks, primarily along the adjacent River Dove (the walk down river leads you through Beresford Dale - past the famous fishing temple where The Compleat Angler was written by Isaac walter and Charles Cotton - through Wolfscote Dale and onto Dove Dale), but is also well regarded for its fine Norman church and a magnificent Jacobean Youth Hostel, and a well known Cheese Shop selling the local factory's genuine Stilton and other types of Cheese.

The highly popular Tissington trail, which runs for 17 miles is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders and is just under one mile from the cottage, and the High Peak Trail and the Manifold Valley trail are within 2 miles. These three tracks are ideal for family cycling as is the network of quiet minor roads which can be accessed at numerous points along the trails. These former railway lines have much else to offer, not least quality views, but also interesting viaducts, steam beam engines and more.

The village is superbly located within that part of the Peak District known as the White Peak (The White Peak consists of rolling countryside dales strreams and rivers, limestone villages and dry-stone walls which give the area so much charachter.) Buxton Matlock Bakewell Ashbourne and Leek are all about 11 miles away, at different points of the compass from us. Alton Towers is under 30 minutes away. The Potteries are within easy reach. In short the village's location makes it one of the most popular villages for those looking to stay a few days or weeks

There is Sky television with full sports/movies etc

For information about bookings, click on to our web site, and from there on to the prices and availability page, although we can advise that , we have four nights available from Sunday 22nd July at the winter short breaks rate (about one half of the summer) at £320 for two person rising to £400 for six persons, small reducton for shorter stay - includes heating electrficity linen AND FULL SKY PROGRAMMES.
