This romantic grade two, listed cottage is the first in a row of ten, set on a track off a country lane surrounded by farmland and close to a tributary of the river Kennet. The garden is mature, of good size and extremely pretty. The property is approached through a porch fitted with two bench seats leading to a charmingly furnished sitting room with an inglenook fireplace; meals can be taken at an antique farm table in the kitchen, which contains all necessary implements including a dishwasher. A door off the kitchen leads to a single bedroom with an adjoining shower room. A winding staircase leads to the first floor two double bedrooms are separated by a bathroom with a roll top bath. The village pub is less than half a mile away; good nearby restaurants include two with Michelin stars. Oxford, Salisbury and Bath are within an hour’s drive; early risers can travel to the nearby Lambourn downs to watch jockeys riding out at dawn. The local towns of Hungerford and Marlborough have retained their individual characters, each with a high proportion of independently owned shops.
