Two recently converted Grade II Listed traditional farm buildings on a small working farm on the edge of the Peak District.
“The Coach House” (sleeps 4/5 plus cot) and
“The Shippon” (sleeps 4 plus cot).
A warm and friendly welcome will greet you from the Bullock family: Mark, Susan, and their children, Winifred and Florence.
“The Coach House” is a two bedroomed barn conversion offering the modern comforts of under floor heating with the features of beamed ceilings and stone floors.
Originally built to house the coach and the horses with lofts over for the stable boys. During the last century it was converted to milking shippons in the stables and turkeys in the loft.
“The Shippon” is a two bedroomed cow shippon conversion offering the modern comforts of underfloor heating, fitted kitchen and bathroom with shower.
This unit has been designed to be suitable for the less abled with wider doors and drive-in shower.
Stone flagged floors, oak beams from our own woods and a wood burning stove add character to this converted building which has been used for milking cows and the housing of breeding animals.
Situation
The farm is situated in an area of natural beauty with rolling pastures divided into patchwork by the tree lined hedges and oak woods.
The area is ideal for walking with:
the Macclesfield Canal and it’s locks just up the road;
the Manor Park and Lake;
the Dane Valley; and
the local hill called Bosley Cloud where there are views towards Buxton and the Peak District; Stoke on Trent and its famous Potteries; the Cheshire Plain to Beeston Castle and the Welsh Hills and Manchester to the north.
The local towns offer an insight into history with Macclesfield being a silk town and Buxton a Spa town.
The area has a wealth of interesting houses to visit:
Chatsworth House, home to The Duke & Duchess of Devonshire
Tatton Park with its Royal Horticultural Show (the country’s answer to the Chelsea Flower Show).
Gawsworth Hall, an Elizabethan house with its open-air theatre in the summer.
Little Moreton Hall, an Elizabethan National Trust property.
Acorn Cottages are ideally situated to explore this part of the Kingdom. Easy access from the M6 motorway and Manchester Airport.
The World famous Alton Towers and Jodrell Bank are a short distance away.
