The village of Pepieux is surrounded by an expanse of vineyards, the Corbieres hills and the distant mountains of the Pyrenees. The southern French pace of life is evident in the centre of the village where people take time to chat in the shops and in the street, unlike the hectic pace of city dwellers. Nearby food markets include that of Olonzac, a five minute drive, and the larger Lezignan a further 10 minute drive. The historic towns of Carcassonne and Narbonne are half-an- hour away and the fabulous Mediterranean beaches forty minutes’ drive. The village itself has a bakery, chemist, mini market, church, bar and restaurant. One of the main attractions of the area, the beautiful lake of Jouarres, is just five minutes away by car. Here, as well as swimming, various water sports are available and there are barbeque facilities for a fun picnic.
This modern villa is finished and furnished to a very high standard and is all on one level with one small step down from the terrace to the garden which has table and chairs for outdoor dining, parasol and barbeque. On entering the house, immediately to the left, is the comfortably furnished living room complete with TV, video and stereo and with an attractive traditional fireplace as a focal point. Large French windows open onto the terrace. The recently fitted kitchen has plenty of work space and is generously equipped with fridge, freezer, washing machine, toaster, blender, electric oven and gas hob. The separate dining area leads off the living room and has a serving hatch through to the kitchen. There are two bedrooms each with a double bed. The bathroom which has bath, shower and washbasin is between the bedrooms. There is a separate wc. This is a perfect base for a relaxed family holiday in a peaceful location in a traditional midi village.
