Gruissan is a beautifully landscaped resort full of flowers, palm trees and laurier rose bushes with a chic new marina, old port, and a lagoon famous for its pink flamingoes. Narbonne is 15kms inland and castles, canyons, lakes, rivers and sleepy medieval villages surrounded by vineyards await discovery. The main resort surrounds the marina and yacht harbour and in addition to shops and supermarkets offers a huge choice of excellent cafes, bars, and restaurants specializing in delicious platters of local seafood.

The nearby Massif de la Clape offers a chance for both casual and serious walkers to enjoy the cool wooded hills of this rugged natural park noted for its rare orchids and exotic birdlife. Climb high enough and you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Mediterranean coastline and the Pyrenees on the border with Spain.
