All Saint's Holiday Cottage Canterbury– sleeps 4
Canterbury
This wonderful cottage is one of the only self catering cottages Canterbury has to offer that can truly claim to be in the centre!.
Tucked away in the heart of historic Canterbury, this two bedroom medieval cottage offers a wealth of original features, not to mention a sunny decked courtyard directly overlooking the River Stour. Canterbury Cathedral, The Marlowe Theatre, The Canterbury Tales, The Roman Museum, Canterbury Castle, Royal Museum and Art Gallery are all on your doorstep. Canterbury centre also offers an unrivalled choice of restaurants, bars and shops.
All Saint's Cottage is accessed via an ancient cobbled lane off St Peter's (one of the main pedestrian walkways of this historic city). It is tucked behind a larger imposing period property and therefore is surprising private.
The ground floor consists of a small cosy sitting room which opens into the small but well fitted galley kitchen. These two rooms are separated by a pair of unusual antique wooden dividers. The kitchen includes a washing machine, a cooker, microwave, a fridge and freezer with ample utensils for your stay. There is also a drying machine in the hallway. The sitting room has a wood effect fire, a large corner sofa, leather tub chair, an antique settle with a small dining table and chairs.
A steep period staircase leads up to the First Floor which comprises of a small double bedroom with built in wardrobe and tv/dvd. The window overlooks an old courtyard and the famous Witches Ducking Stool perched over the river. There is also a separate bathroom which consists of a bath with shower over, WC and wash hand basin and a small dressing room.
The last flight of steep stairs leads to the second floor Master bedroom. Even with its sloping ceilings this eaves room is still the most spacious room of the property and there is also a small window with views to Canterbury Cathedral (visible from your bed!).It consists of an Antique double brass bed, a seating area, a TV with DVD player and plenty of storage space.
There are some relatively low doorways and some uneven floors but the height of most of the ceilings in All Saints is surprisingly good. Especially for a cottage of this age.
The riverside courtyard is in a truly exceptional location and we have provided comfortable outside seating and table for you to enjoy your waterside experience to the full. The only passing traffic you will find here is the occasional punt gliding by (a flat bottomed boat propelled by a long pole). The river is crystal clear and home to ducks and swans !
Wireless broadband is available!
