The Area
The area is well used for windsurfing, diving, canoeing, fishing, sailing and kite surfing (Skerries) however visitors will sometimes need to bring their own equipment.
Loughshinny is located between Rush and Skerries. It is a small fishing village with a long history. The Drumanagh Cliffs are not only of geological significance but are also claimed to be the site of a Roman settlement. The hard rock of Loughshinny has provided a natural harbour for thousands of years before the Harbour itself was built in the last Century.
There is a local pub just a pleasant walk from the house. Skerries, the local town, offers numerous restaurants (one Egon Ronay) pubs, shops, boutiques, supermarkets, and picturesque harbour.
Also local, Ardgillan Demesne Castle with adventure play ground and amazing grounds, Skerries Mills authentic museum reconstruction, Newbridge House and train station.
Loughshinny is only a 30 minute train journey from the centre of Dublin from either Rush or Skerries. There is a bus service at the cross roads in Loughshinny (timetable available in the house).
