| Chapelhope Farmhouse is at the southern end of St Mary's Loch and is ideal for the family holiday where a tranquil setting is a priority.
The house looks across the glen to the hills beyond and there are fine walks to be enjoyed without having to drive anywhere.
The farmhouse dates back to the mid 1800's and was upgraded in 2006. With two large reception rooms and good sized bedrooms, the house can very comfortably accommodate parties of 10 plus two children.
Whilst being a very accommodating and welcoming house for families, Chapelhope is the perfect location for groups of 8 to 10 friends who wish to enjoy a break away together in an attractively furnished and well appointed farmhouse.
The area is rich in historic sites. One can visit castles, tower houses, gardens and battle sites. The stunning Grey Mare's Tail waterfall, Traquair, Bowhill and Neidpath castles are all close by. Abbotsford and Melrose Abbeys are also within an hour's drive.
The surrounding countryside is a mixture of rolling moorland, woodland and lochs, as well as more remote upland hills. The outdoor enthusiast will find plenty to do in the area, including cycling, hill walking, fishing, riding and canoeing.
Edinburgh is one and a half hour's drive and so is easily visited for a day during your stay.
Moffat (25 minutes' drive) is a pretty Borders town with a wealth of attractive tourist shops and local provisions.
There is a path from the house, through the wood, to a nearby cafe on the banks of St Mary's Loch which offers meals throughout the day and internet access (1 km).
