This self catering period cottage is perched next to the banks of the narrow watercourse called the 'Reading Street Dyke' and is on the Southern edge of the Old Rother, which was up to a quarter of a mile wide in parts in the 17th Century. There are great views of open countryside everywhere you look and the watching the sunset is a must!
The Ferry Inn (next door) was built in 1690 to refresh and accommodate the travellers who would then cross over the outlet of the River Rother to the mainland! It is now has a menu that many restaurants would find hard to beat made mainly with locally sourced ingredients. This freehouse also offers a great selection of award winning ales and fine wines. The Saxon Shore Way, which also passes right by Ferryboat cottage (a 163 mile walk along the original Roman coastline) makes this a popular destination for walkers and Cyclists.
The picturesque village of Appledore kent is only 20 minutes walk or a 2 minute drive away. The Ancient Cinque port of Rye Sussex and the historic town of Tenterden are only 5 miles away.The Romney Marsh ,Dungeness and the Channel Tunnel are also closeby.
On the ground floor of this centrally heated stone in oxney holiday cottage there is a small lounge with a wood burning stove. A separate dining room. A fitted kitchen with a fridge/freezer,washing machine and ample cooking utensils to make your favourite dishes.
Upstairs you will find 1 double bedroom and 2 twin bedrooms. There is also a bathroom with a bath with an electric shower over. There is a good sized garden to the rear with a picnic table and barbecue. Parking is in the Ferry Inn's car park 15 feet away and is never a problem!
