Overlooking Hury reservoir, the cottage is ideally situated for walks, fishing and touring the surrounding area. In the local area is Barnard Castle, the Bowes museum and High Force (waterfall). To the west, Penrith and the Lake District are 45 minutes away by car, easily reachable for a day trip. Similarly, to the south are the North Yorkshire Dales, with it's pretty villages and lovely walks. For those wishing to do some shopping, Newcastle and the Metrocentre are an hour away by car and Leeds and York are an hour and a quarter. Closer to home is Durham with it's historic cathedral and castle.
