Assenede is one of the oldest villages in Flanders Our charming NON SMOKING cottage, a formal hunting lodge of 1934 with the comfort of today is located on a property of 2500 sqm in the middel of a rural area and nature reserve Doornendijk and surrounded by dikes, papletrees and lakes. Several terraces overlooking the spectacular Flemish nature.
We offer you 2 double bedrooms - bathroom - kitchen - sittingsroom with books and information of the region.
100% silence and you hear only your neigbours ( the birds ).
So you can say back to nature, but don't forget the historical towns of Ghent 20 km - Bruges and Damme 40 km - Antwerp 40 km and the Dutsch North Sea coast 26 km are nearby. The area is also a paradise for cycling and walking.
At the house, free bicycles are provided for guests.
Activities in the Assenede area include tennis - bowling - golf - sailing - surfing - tropical in- and outdoor swimming-pool - fishing - bicycling - hiking - kayak - etc.
LOCATION & AREA
The willow-lined canals, lush green pastures and extensive soft, sandy dunes of Flanders need no introduction ; their beauty has been captured for centuries by some of the world's greatest artists. The Meetjesland, however is known only to a discerning few, yet it has much to offer anyone seeking peace and quiet.
Its one of those rare corners of Western Europe where time has virtually stood still and man has barely changed the face of nature.
Today its a land of creeks and polders, tall fields, « sleeping » dikes and old smugglers routes in the north and woodlands in the south which contain beautiful castles and castle farms.
