|'The Stable' is situated down a quiet no-through country lane one mile from Hailsham, just above the upper reaches of Pevensey Marsh. This historical old market town was granted charter rights by Henry 111 in 1252 and has two bustling shopping precincts, a modern sports complex and leisure pool.
The 'Stable' door opens into the kitchen with living area. The kitchen is fully equipped and has an electric cooker, microwave oven, fridge with freezing compartment, washing machine, iron and ironing board. The living area has a comfortable suite, pine dining table and chairs and flat screen television with tele-text. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and electrically heated towel rail. The bedroom has a king size double bed, which can be divided to comprise two small singles. All linen, towels and tea-towels are provided as well as radio alarm clock and hair-dryer. Heating is provided by thermostatically controlled wall-mounted electric convector heaters. There is off road parking and the garden has a summer house, picnic table and barbecue.
The surrounding area provides numerous attractions for all ages. The South Downs and Weald afford excellent walks and quaint villages and hamlets offer refreshment in the old inns and tea-rooms. Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters Country Park grace the chalk coastline between Eastbourne and Seaford. Brighton, Hastings, the county town of Lewes and a number of National Trust properties, castles, gardens and stately homes are all within easy reach.
The Cuckoo Line railway, built in 1849, passed through Hailsham, but was closed in 1965. It now provides a beautiful scenic track and bridleway called the Cuckoo Trail, running from Eastbourne to Heathfield.
