|Merok Cottage is situated in a quiet lane in Newsham, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, between the market towns of Richmond (7 miles) in North Yorkshire and Barnard Castle (6 miles) in County Durham.
The accommodation sleeps up to 4 adults and one infant. There is a double room and a 2nd bedroom with 2 full sized bunk beds, with fresh linen and towels provided, plus a travel cot, stairgate & high chair. Downstairs there is a cosy lounge with woodburning stove and a spacious kitchen/diner warmed by an oil Rayburn and with pretty views over the rear garden. Other amenities include central heating, TV & DVD player, CD/Radio, electric hob, fridge/freezer, microwave/grill, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher.
The cottage provides an excellent base for walking, cycling or touring in Teesdale & Swaledale with local attractions including six pubs/restaurants within 3 miles, the beautiful Teesdale Way next to the River Tees, and High Force waterfall, the Bowes Museum, plus Castles at Barnard Castle, Richmond and Raby. Further afield, the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and cities of York, Durham and Newcastle are within easy range for day trips.
