Parts of the farm date to the 15th century ; and militia supporting the excisemen who patrolled this part of the Coast used many of the buildings in the 18th century.
The lane leading to the farm (“Long Lane”) was once a main road out of Combe Martin and an access route for smugglers ;but now fades into a small track as it passes the Farm.
One of the Farm buildings now houses two 19th Century cider presses and if visiting in October you can see the cider being made by Geoffrey, Mark and his sons in the traditional way. If not visiting in October you can of course sample and purchase the golden liquid straight from the many casks in the Barn at any time of year.
At any time of the year you can mix with the livestock which consists of Devon Red Cattle; Pigs; Sheep; Geese; Ducks;Turkeys and Chickens - A great time to visit is early in the year when the lambing season starts - The baby lambs are an experience your children will never forget.
During your stay you can also purchase Seasonal Fruit and Vegetables from Geoffrey’s’ magnificent Vegetable Patch; Wonderful Jams and Preserves produced on the Farm Aga by Sue; Honey from the resident Bees; Free Range Chicken; Goose and Duck eggs as well as Boxes of Home butchered Lamb or Devon Red Beef. We can even offer some of the most amazingly clear private spring water.
The central, rural location offers relaxing surroundings and walks including 50 Acres of woodland on the Farm itself. It also provides easy access to the local popular attractions; Exmoor and the Coast. Fishing, Golfing; Horse Riding; Shooting; Surfing; Cycling; Quad Biking etc are all available locally.
Other Attractions include Combe Martin Wildlife Park; Watermouth Castle; Exmoor Zoo; Exmoor Steam Railway; National Trust Arlington Court, The Quince Honey Farm, Dartington Glass, Rosemoor Gardens, The Big Sheep, and Cobbatton Combat Museum, to name but a few.
The antiques centre of South Molton is close, as is the Market Town of Barnstaple with its pannier market; sports facilities and Entertainment. Even closer is the Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe with its harbour (boat trips to Lundy Island and Sea Fishing trips) a Theatre; Cinema; Swimming Pool and Seaside amusements.
